About Me
My dream of being a humanist celebrant started when my partner and I got married. We loved the deeply personal nature of a humanist ceremony, and being able to have our choice of readings and music. Most of all, our kids were able to be involved in the ceremony, both with a reading and a handfasting, which they adored! I knew I wanted to be able to provide this to other couples and families.
As a humanist, I believe that everyone should have access to non-religious, meaningful ceremonies to celebrate those special days. You don’t have to be a humanist yourself – you may simply want a ceremony that is welcoming and inclusive of all of your family and friends, whatever their beliefs.
I live in East Yorkshire with my husband, our two kids, and our Romanian rescue pup. As for my day job, I’m a psychologist – a job I love because I love people! I am continually amazed and encouraged by the beauty and strength of other people, and my working life has been dedicated to helping people to overcome adversity and realise their potential. My work as a celebrant is in addition to this – it’s my hobby and something I do as it brings extra joy to my life.
I’m warm, professional and I make others feel at ease. My aim is to help families and couples really enjoy the process of creating their unique ceremony. I love listening to the stories being told, and I adore seeing how people respond at hearing their own stories recounted to them. For me, this is what makes a humanist ceremony really special – the romance, poetry and laughter of people’s lives intertwined throughout their ceremony.
It is a huge privilege for me to be trained and accredited by Humanists UK. I am insured through Humanists UK, and fully DBS checked.
